Welcoming 2025!

Now we are well into February with lengthening hours of light and blankets of snowdrops beckoning the next season, we bring you news from the beginning of the year. January has kept us busy here at Barwhillanty Estate as we rounded up the shooting calendar, battled with the wild weather and began exciting plans for the year ahead.

Beginners Take Flight

Maria took 2025 to a flying start, welcoming many first-time aerial yoga students to her beginners class, for a taste of fun, flexibility and strength training with the aerial hammock. It was wonderful to see so many of you keen to try something new with a fully booked class and even better to see some of you carry on to reap the rewards of this challenging yet exhilarating form of exercise. Aerial yoga classes are every Monday at 7:30pm and can be booked on our website. Beginners are always welcome.

Chaos After The Storm

Storm Éowyn blew and more trees fell than we dare to count. The wild winds left much damage in their wake, with days of power loss to our properties and weeks of work to clear the path of destruction. We are thankful to our amazing team who have made a heroic effort to clear trees from the garden and many other affected areas, as well as local trades who have helped with repairs from storm damage. As the grand clear up continues, we hope for more spells of sunshine and a sniff of spring in the air.

Looking Ahead

Plans continue to come together as our vision unfolds for our upcoming events space in our stunning Walled Garden. We aim to create a unique facility, offering regular events, such as supper clubs showcasing local chefs, pop-up events such as cinema nights or garden workshops and special events such as birthday parties and celebrations and, of course, create an exquisite wedding venue. Our events calendar is in development and we are excited about sharing what is to come.

We are delighted to announce the date of Saturday 7th June for our next Garden Picnic Prom. This will be another magical collaboration with Blackbird Opera. After such a success last summer, and a sellout Christmas Opera in December, we cannot wait to continue this momentum of musical wonder! Featuring opera, food, drinks and the garden in full bloom, it promises to be an event to remember. We will keep you updated with booking information in due course.
