Experience the landscape of an estate working in harmony with nature.

Where tradition meets progression.

Where our heritage evolves along the passage of time to a sustainable future.

Custodians of our beautiful countryside, we have a long term responsibility towards our natural environment, the species within it and the livelihoods of those associated with it.

We invite you to connect with our family values and join us on our journey to create our community.

A community we welcome to share an appreciation and respect for some of the magic Barwhillanty Estate holds.

Through honouring the past, we protect the future.

A family asset since 1884, Barwhillanty Estate, originally a sporting estate, has been nurtured with a commitment to conservation and a responsibility to land management. With a passion to protect our land and associated infrastructure, we invest sustainably, respecting our environment for future generations.

Instrumental to sustainable timber production, the late J.M.A.Yerburgh, father to Oscar Yerburgh, pioneered the journey into productive forestry in the 1950s. Today, forestry still forms the core of our sustainable business portfolio, alongside farming and our continuing diversification into experiences and events.

Introducing ourselves as the current custodians, we are Maria and Oscar Yerburgh. We live and breathe Barwhillanty Estate, with our four children; Acacia, Leander, Thalia and Xanthus.

We hope to inspire you here in the beautiful Galloway hills of South West Scotland.

Working in harmony with nature, our vision is beyond that of our own lives.”

Sustainability is at the heart of our vision and our responsibility extends both environmentally and socially.

Our connection to this landscape is long and lasting.

Our commitment is to protect our heritage for future generations.

“Our mission is to create a community that we can share in together, through development of our exciting aspirations, delivery of our sustainable projects and experience of our wonderful, wild environment.”
