Violetta Valéry, a Parisian courtesan abandons her former life after falling in love with a young nobleman, but social convention and family pressure soon force their separation. As her health deteriorates, she makes a final sacrifice to protect his future, leading to a brief reunion marked by reconciliation and loss. One of Verdi’s most powerful and best-known scores, this tragedy has also inspired countless retellings including cult favourite films Pretty Woman and Moulin Rouge!.
This semi-staged concert performance in the new Walled Garden Pavilion of the Barwhillanty Estate, will feature American soprano Kira Kaplan, Scottish tenor Robert Forrest and Armenian baritone Arshak Kuzikyan, under the musical direction of celebrated Sicilian conductor Maestro Leonardo Catalanotto.
An optional pre-performance supper will be available from 6.00pm.
We offer a traditional Italian style menu of Antipasto, Primo, Secondo (featuring Barwhillanty Lamb) and Dolce, on sharing platters for all to enjoy.
