Barwhillanty Blog… Lifting out of Lockdown

Where did the whirlwind start to 2021 go? Last time I wrote, optimism was a plenty for a prosperous New Year, yet lockdown laid law again and here we are in May, finally feeling hope on the horizon.

Having set to soar with my aerial yoga classes, they came to a grinding halt and instead yoga became virtual once more. My online classes presented an opportunity to expand my geographic reach and include a variety of styles. Thank you to all those who have joined me on this digital journey, as my belly expanded and I found my moments of mindfulness on the mat with you.

The lambing season came and went, getting our children involved helping in the fields as well as at home, with our three pet lambs keeping them entertained. And our deer are plumping up again for their next babies in a few weeks’ time – quite timely with me!

We are looking forward to bringing back the shooting season this autumn and restarting aerial yoga classes. We are excited about having our holiday cottages busy with guests again, as we invite you to share in the breathtaking setting of Barwhillanty Estate. With two new cottages being added to our collection of stunning places to stay, it is not too late to book.

Our first pop-up event is scheduled for Saturday 28th August for our Garden Open Day, which promises to be filled with feast and fun for everyone. We will be offering homemade pizza from our wood-fired Walled Garden pizza oven, moments of mindful ‘Yoga on the Lawn’ as well as an exciting art display of ‘Sound Horns’ by local artist Katie Anderson. Keep your eyes peeled here to book in for the event.

My mission to promote a preventative approach to oral health and shine a light on the oral microbiome has taken flight as I chatted to Liz Earle MBE earlier this year and have produced my own website as a resource for you to understand the microbiome of your mouth… www.thelifestyledentist.co.uk. I would love to hear what you think!

Meantime, may the month of May be a springing start to seeing more of each other and sharing experiences together again… as we bring our fourth baby into the Barwhillanty brood in a few weeks!
